Description

Zain Kuwait, the Gulf telecom operator, has organised its disability-inclusion work under a 'WE ABLE 2030' vision built on four commitments: increasing employment of persons with disabilities across its operations, embedding inclusivity in training, ensuring accessibility across physical and digital touchpoints, and championing assistive technologies. As part of this, Zain reports having hired 50 employees with disabilities and having launched 'The Masters,' described as the region's first corporate Employee Resource Group focused on disability inclusion.
To mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Zain Kuwait ran what it describes as the country's first strategic digital-and-policy accessibility audit, testing its digital platforms against the 86 success criteria of WCAG 2.2 — covering alternative text, captions, colour contrast, keyboard navigation and screen-reader compatibility — using assistive technologies including VoiceOver, TalkBack, JAWS and NVDA. Deliverables included a 0–100 baseline accessibility scorecard, technical remediation logs for developers, an accessibility checklist for social-media and marketing content, an inclusive HR policy matrix, and a 12-month follow-up process.
These figures come from Zain's own press materials and are echoed by independent Kuwaiti and regional trade press, but no third-party audit of the employment or accessibility-score claims has been published, and the underlying WCAG scorecard results themselves are not public; the practice should therefore be read as a corporate self-report using an external methodology (WCAG 2.2), not an independently verified outcome evaluation.
