Expansion and reinforcement of the municipal women's care service (Ampliación y refuerzo del servicio municipal de atención a la mujer)

The project is based on the incorporation of an expert equality agent in direct intervention and in the design, management, development and evaluation of specific equal opportunity and gender programmes for the municipal women's care service of the Cuntis City Council.
The incorporation of the equality agents had among its actions primarily the attention to women users of the service, without prejudice to the development of other actions in matters of equality focused on other groups or of a transversal nature.
The project is aimed at the general population since both the actions at the internal to the council – such as awareness-raising activities on staff equality or the implementation of the gender perspective in the projects promoted by the local administration – such as those directly focused on citizens will have a repercussion on the population by aiming to achieve a more egalitarian society.
However, the project contemplated that in the event of a particular need for carry out activities that prioritize the participation of people in disadvantaged situations. Priority will be given to women victims of gender violence, people with disabilities, people at risk of social exclusion or migrants, among others, because it is considered that they face a situation of greater vulnerability.
It aims to:
- Promote and improve the social situation of the citizens of the town of Cuntis promoting the application of the principle of equality as a guarantee of a just society and egalitarian.
- Raise awareness about the meaning and necessity of equal opportunities between women and men
- Provide technical advice to the local corporation to carry out policies equal opportunities between women and men
- Inform women about existing resources in the territory, especially in employment and training
- Development and implementation of activities that promote equality of opportunities and the fight against gender violence in the municipality
- Include the incorporation of the gender perspective in the projects of the Local Administration
- Promote the autonomy and economic independence of women as an instrument of promotion of female empowerment and leadership
- Promote associations as an instrument for the participation of women in the location
- Establish channels of collaboration between the entities involved in the project with the purpose of promoting synergies that contribute to the achievement of equality of women and men

Why it's a good practice: The reason why this initiative should be considered a good practice is because a little town like Cuntis (<5000 inhabitants) had invested a large amount of money to have a service on gender equality. This services is very usefull for all the Power Domains previously stablished for the following reasons:

- Giving information to women promoting their empowerment and autonomy increases their participation in society and access to positions of greater responsibility, since economic, political and social autonomy is encouraged.

- The information is power, if you know how to do, then you can do it. So having an information point for women and people in vulnerability situation it is very usefull for emotional, economical, political and social reality. And if you promote gender equality from the positions of responsibility, you can raise awareness, improving the women's quality of life and the services provided to them, like conciliation services.
