What works in Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire has undertaken significant reforms and development initiatives across multiple sectors. On gender equality, the 2019 Family Code Reform achieved the largest OECD SIGI score improvement in sub-Saharan Africa, declining from 42.8 to 17.3 between 2019 and 2023. For digital skills and entrepreneurship, the Orange Digital Center trained over 3,500 people and supported 92 startups at its Abidjan hub since opening in October 2021, with broader reach expanding to 14,500+ people across three countries by 2025. On environmental protection, the Taï National Park Area Emission Reductions Programme delivered 7 million tonnes of verified CO₂ equivalent reductions by 2024, generating USD 35 million in World Bank payments. The country is also participating in emerging AI and teacher-training initiatives launched in 2025–2026, though these remain in early implementation phases without yet-published outcome data.
