Description

ABC Accelerator (Acceleration Business City) launched in Ljubljana's BTC City business district in 2015 as a corporate-backed startup accelerator, initially anchored by IBM Slovenia and later joined by partners including Microsoft, BMW, Amazon and Cisco. Each 12-week cohort selects a small number of startups — historically around 10 per round from several hundred applicants — offering a standard €25,000 convertible-loan investment for equity, with an option for a further €100,000–250,000 in follow-on investment.

By its own later tally, ABC Accelerator has accelerated more than 130 startups from over 30 countries, whose alumni have collectively raised more than €32 million since the programme's 2015 founding. Its early cohorts already drew international applicants from as far as Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam, Pakistan and Nigeria, and its first investor pitch event attracted more than 70 investors. The programme was named the region's best accelerator by the Central & Eastern European Startup Awards (CESA) in 2017 and recognised as Slovenia's leading accelerator in 2018.

The cumulative figures (130+ startups, €32M raised) come from the organisation's own reporting rather than an independent audit, and — as with most corporate accelerators — no public data was found on outcomes for startups that were not selected or that dropped out, so the net effect of the programme relative to unsupported founders cannot be established from the available sources.
