Warsaw's city-funded accelerator: 12 editions since 2015, 460+ startups mentored, three Demo Day winners per cohort receive PLN 50,000/30,000/20,000, backed by 100+ mentors from municipal corporations and private partners.
PL91Warsaw Booster is the City of Warsaw's annual startup acceleration programme, established in 2015 and continuously operated through successive city contracts — the current 2024-2026 contract is run by a consortium of Startup Hub Poland Foundation, StartSmart CEE Foundation and MOST Foundation on behalf of Warsaw's city government.
Each edition opens with a city-wide call for applications across seven urban-challenge themes: edtech, safety technology, social services, urban agriculture, sustainability, mobility, and healthcare innovation.
From all applicants, 20 startups are shortlisted and 10 become finalists competing at a public Demo Day; finalists attend intensive workshops and personalised mentoring on business strategy, market segmentation, intellectual property, internationalisation and digital product design, and gain access to Warsaw's city data repositories and pilot opportunities with municipal units.
Three winners receive non-dilutive cash prizes of PLN 50,000 (first), PLN 30,000 (second) and PLN 20,000 (third). After 12 completed editions (2015-2024+), the programme has supported over 460 companies and engaged over 100 mentors and corporate partners, including municipal utilities and transport operators. Notable alumni include Plan Be Eco, Alpha Powders and WaterSense (all subsequent winners of external startup competitions), and SeekStorm (2nd place, 2021 cohort, later scaled internationally).
Making the City of Warsaw both funder and live test customer — through data access and municipal pilots — extends the conventional acceleration model in a replicable way, though no independent study measures alumni revenue, job creation or survival rates.
