AI chatbot deployed April 2024 on EBA, Turkey's national K-12 platform. First 5 weeks: >10M messages from 2.8M users across all 81 provinces; addresses >1,000 topics for students, teachers and parents. No learning outcome data published for this period.
EBA (Eğitim Bilişim Ağı — Education Information Network) is Turkey's national digital learning platform operated by the Ministry of National Education, serving students, teachers and parents across the country's K-12 system. In April 2024 the Ministry launched an AI-powered conversational assistant — the EBA Assistant — built by CBOT, to provide natural-language support across the platform.
The EBA Assistant addresses queries on more than 1,000 different topics, covering course content, platform navigation, account support, and curriculum-related questions. Prior to its launch, the platform handled user queries through static FAQ pages and a limited pre-defined set of approximately 100 questions across 10 categories.
Within the first five weeks of deployment (April–May 2024), the assistant responded to more than 10 million messages from 2.8 million users across all 81 Turkish provinces, with 85% of interactions occurring via mobile devices. The highest usage was concentrated in Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, İzmir and Diyarbakır — spanning major urban centres and south-eastern provinces where educational resources are historically thinner.
The EBA Assistant is designed to serve up to 18 million students, over one million teachers, and their families. Turkey's Ministry of Education has incorporated AI chatbot support into its 2025–2029 AI in Education Strategy. No independent evaluation of learning outcomes or pedagogical impact has been published for the initial deployment period; available evidence is limited to engagement and usage metrics.
