Context

European Women Rectors Association (EWORA) is an international non-profit association established in Brussels under Belgian law in December 2015 to promote women in academic leadership positions and advocate for gender equality in higher education and research. It continues the European Women Rectors Platform (EWRP), active since 2008, which organised biennial European Women Rectors Conferences.

Objectives

To increase women's representation at decision-making levels in higher education and research, remove barriers to horizontal and vertical segregation in academia, and support women rectors in sharing experience.

Activities

Developing strategies and policies to encourage women academics into leadership roles, proposing these to institutional, national and European decision-makers, running a Europe-wide network for knowledge and experience exchange, and organising the biennial European Women Rectors Conferences (continuing the EWRP tradition).
