The Good Work Standard is a free accreditation programme that provides employers with a set of best employment practices alongside information and resources to help achieve them.
The Good Work Standard is a free accreditation programme from the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority that sets out best-employment-practice benchmarks - including paying at least the London Living Wage, avoiding exploitative zero-hours contracts, and offering structured career development - and provides employers with resources to meet them. Developed with London's employers, trade unions, professional bodies and experts, it has run since July 2019 through a foundation assessment, self-assessment, review by the Economic Fairness Team, and a panel accreditation decision, with accreditation valid for four years.
As reported, 145 organisations - including Siemens Mobility, the Museum of London, London City Airport, Comic Relief, Pearson PLC, Standard Chartered, Salesforce UK and LUSH - have been recognised as Good Work Standard employers, and over 257,000 Londoners now work for a Good Work Standard employer. The programme has also created the People Skills Hub, offering free guidance and resources to small businesses.
