Innovation Centre Kosovo — Norway-Backed Tech Training and Startup Hub in Prishtina

Innovation Centre Kosovo (ICK) was founded in Prishtina in June 2012 with funding support from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Kosovo's first dedicated technology innovation and entrepreneurship centre.

Combine startup incubation and acceleration with large-scale digital-skills training and university-industry knowledge-transfer, building the country's tech entrepreneurship base from a near-zero starting point in 2012.

ICK runs incubation and acceleration programmes alongside digital-skills courses, and has built partnerships with international technology firms and institutions including Google, Microsoft and NASA. A documented targeted programme awarded 61 women coding scholarships worth over €500,000.

ICK's current self-reported metrics (via the Impact Europe network directory) put support at over 500 startups and €7.5 million in financial and technical assistance, more than 11,000 people trained through 671 courses, and over 5,000 jobs created. An independent 2024 feature by the Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa cites a slightly earlier snapshot of 8,500 people trained and the 61 women's coding scholarships, with all recipients reported employed afterward.

ICK's own director, Uranik Begu, is on record criticising both the Kosovo government and the EU for underfunding the innovation sector relative to infrastructure spending — an honest signal on the limits of the centre's public financial backing.
