South Korea's dBrain+ (2022) integrates AI across the national budget cycle, linking 63 government systems via KFIS and KORAHS for real-time fiscal risk assessment, daily treasury balance forecasts, and data-driven policy support across central and local government.
South Korea's dBrain+ is an AI-enhanced Financial Management Information System operated by the Korea Fiscal Information Service (KFIS) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, deployed in its AI-augmented form in 2022 and integrating national budgeting, fund management, debt oversight and performance evaluation.
The system aims to replace manual fiscal projections with real-time, AI-driven risk assessment and daily treasury forecasting, supporting faster and better-informed central and local government decisions.
Two AI modules underpin the system: the KFIS module, which digitalises the full financial transaction cycle, and the KORAHS module, which applies AI analytics to detect emerging fiscal risks and support scenario analysis. KFIS also supports international replication, including a completed feasibility study for Indonesia's FMIS modernisation and engagement with countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America via PEMPAL and the World Bank.
OECD sources describe dBrain+ as one of the most advanced AI-enhanced FMIS globally, though its operational scope is documented largely through government and OECD qualitative reporting rather than an independent quantitative evaluation.
