Context

Mayores con Iniciativa is a project led by the Fundación para el Desarrollo Infotecnológico de Empresas y Sociedad (FUNDETEC), framed within the Avanza Digital Citizenship subprogramme in Spain. It was created to bring Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to older people and help them play an active role in the Information Society.

Objectives

The project aims to identify the specific ICT needs and interests of older people and to launch activities that develop their personal skills and abilities, favouring their social and technological integration. Specific objectives include facilitating acquisition of useful everyday ICT skills, encouraging active participation of older people and those working with them, sharing the results achieved, creating a social network linking older people and professionals in the field, and encouraging transfer of methodology between the professionals involved in the project.
