Context

Portugal's Law 62/2017 (1 August) requires balanced representation between men and women in the management and supervisory bodies of state public-sector entities and stock-exchange-listed companies, and obliges those companies to draw up and publish annual equality plans (Article 7). Millennium BCP's 2023 Gender Equality Plan responds to this obligation for the Group's domestic (Portugal) operations, building on its 2015 'Equality and Non-Discrimination Policy', revised in 2020 as the 'Diversity and Equal Opportunities Policy'.

Objectives

To promote effective equality of treatment and opportunities between women and men, eliminate sex-based discrimination, and encourage reconciliation between personal, family and professional life, per Article 7 of Law 62/2017.

Activities

The plan was built on a self-assessment guide completed to assess the current gender-equality situation and identify priorities; an organisational climate survey carried out in December 2020, covering the entire workforce and intended to run annually; and ongoing monitoring of statistical indicators on gender equality.

Conclusions

The plan is presented as the translation of BCP Group's Diversity and Equal Opportunities Policy into concrete, tangible actions within its People management processes and practices.
