Context

SCORE (Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises) is the ILO's global training-plus-consulting model for small and medium manufacturers, launched in Peru around 2015 in partnership with the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) and the Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción (ITP), which runs Peru's national network of technology-extension centres (Red CITE).

Activities

The programme delivers five modules — workplace cooperation, quality management, clean production, human resource management, and occupational safety and health — through a mix of classroom sessions and hands-on, in-factory consulting.

Results

Peru's own two-year impact assessment (2017–2019) reported that more than 180 SMEs that implemented SCORE Training achieved production increases of up to 43%, alongside a 45% reduction in staff turnover and a 20% reduction in absenteeism. Across participating firms, 88% reported improved productivity and 63% reported fewer workplace accidents; firms completing the full programme placed over 60% of new hires on the formal payroll. A parallel cooperation agreement with ITP extended similar gains to more than 150 additional firms.
