Senegal Education Digital Strategy — Training 105,000 Teachers in AI and Digital Tools

In March 2025, Senegal's Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation signed a partnership to launch a $233 million national programme training all 105,000 public school teachers and administrators in digital tools and artificial intelligence. Publicly launched on 30 September 2025 at the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar, it forms the first phase of the Education Digital Strategy 2025–2029.

Training is delivered online through the Force-N platform, in partnership with Cheikh Hamidou Kane University (formerly the Virtual University of Senegal), using interactive content, self-learning modules, and certified assessments accessible via computer, tablet, or smartphone. Curriculum components include adapting teaching methods to technological change, using AI to enrich learning and create curriculum content, raising student digital and AI awareness, and strengthening cybersecurity and data protection in schools.

The programme is complemented by a national distribution of 5,000 computers to science-stream secondary students, initiated in October 2025. This represents one of sub-Saharan Africa's largest public investments in teacher digital and AI capacity.

No learner-outcome data is yet available; the programme was in early implementation as of mid-2026. Connectivity is a substantive equity risk: approximately 40% of Senegal's population lacked internet access in 2023, which may limit rural teacher participation in the online-first delivery model.
