Context

Software Development Academy (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, with Novare Potential and ESF funding) delivers ~500 hours of intensive programming training over 3-5 months to newcomers to Sweden, aiming to fill an estimated 70,000-developer shortage in Swedish IT companies.

Results

86% of the first cohort (SDA1) had a job 5 months after completion; 61% for the second cohort (SDA2); 50% for the third (SDA3), which the programme notes rose further as more participants entered interview processes.

Conclusions

The employment rate declined across successive cohorts (86% to 61% to 50%), a trend worth monitoring even as at least 6 iterations have run since January 2017.
