Ascendia's Timlogo platform uses AI to analyse Romanian schoolchildren's pronunciation, diagnose speech-sound errors and generate personalised exercises. Backed by a Microsoft AI for Accessibility grant, it reaches 14 schools and 510+ speech therapists nationwide.
RO32Ascendia, an eLearning company listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, launched Timlogo in September 2018 after a two-year research and development project with the University of Bucharest and 'Vasile Alecsandri' University of Bacău, funded through Romania's UEFISCDI/PNCDI III programme.
Timlogo aims to support speech therapists and schoolchildren by using AI to analyse a child's pronunciation, identify which specific speech sounds are causing difficulty, and recommend a personalised sequence of exercises, addressing an estimated 400,000 of Romania's 4 million children who have a speech or language disorder.
The platform draws on a library of 476 interactive applications spanning 34 modules, each built around a problematic sound in Romanian. In December 2018 Timlogo received a Microsoft 'AI for Accessibility' grant of $15,000 in Azure credit, which Ascendia used to accelerate development.
As of Microsoft's reporting, Timlogo is deployed in 14 schools and used by more than 510 speech therapists nationally -- reach and adoption figures rather than a measured therapeutic outcome.
No independently published effect size, articulation-accuracy gain, or controlled comparison against standard speech therapy was found in any source reviewed. Ascendia has stated plans to expand Timlogo to Moldova, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Serbia using the Microsoft grant, though no source reviewed confirms this cross-border rollout has been completed.
