TraceMap is an AI platform built by the European Commission that lets food-safety authorities in all 27 EU member states cross-reference two existing systems, RASFF (the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) and TRACES (the Trade Control and Expert System), to spot contamination patterns, trace supplier networks across borders, and flag likely fraud in minutes instead of days. European countries reported 6,558 food-borne outbreaks in 2024, up 14.5% year-on-year; TraceMap responds to that trend by making the EU's already-mandatory trade and alert data usable for near-real-time pattern detection instead of manual cross-checking.
