Saint Kitts and Nevis' Law Commission launched VoiceIt, a generative-AI assistant answering citizens' questions on national law via web chat and WhatsApp; officials report over 2,000 interactions in its first three months, though no independent cost or accuracy audit has been pub
On 2 December 2024, the Saint Kitts and Nevis Law Commission, under the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs led by Attorney General Hon. Garth Wilkin, launched VoiceIt, a generative-AI virtual assistant trained on the laws of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Ministry of Justice policies. Built by local developer Cherami Limited, VoiceIt lets citizens ask plain-language legal questions and receive answers linked to source documents through a web chat widget and via WhatsApp, including text, voice, and document/image upload. Voice-to-voice interaction was designed with visually impaired users in mind, and the tool supports multiple languages for non-English speakers.
VoiceIt sits within the EU-funded, UNDP-implemented PACE Justice Project (approximately US$7.5 million across eight Caribbean states, 2023–2027). At a UNDP-EU regional workshop in May 2025, officials reported that VoiceIt had logged over 2,000 public interactions in its first three months of operation, and outlined plans to install two VoiceIt-branded legal-access kiosks by September 2025.
Government officials describe VoiceIt as the Caribbean's, or the Western Hemisphere's, first government-deployed legal AI assistant — a framing that is self-declared rather than independently audited. No specific budget figure, accuracy or bias audit, or completion confirmation for the planned kiosks has been published; the 2,000-interaction figure is the only quantified usage metric available as of mid-2026.
