Since 2025, Yandex Education's free AI courses for teachers — self-study materials, webinars, lesson scenarios and a responsible-use module — have been completed by 20,000+ Russian teachers, ahead of a planned national AI maths-tutor rollout announced for December 2026.
Yandex Education, the education arm of Russia's largest technology company, built a free national training programme to help schoolteachers use generative AI in their teaching. The self-paced course pairs self-study materials and webinars with ready-made lesson scenarios adapted for classroom use, starting from basic AI concepts and progressing to applied use, and includes a dedicated module on the responsible use of AI in schools.
By August 2026, independent technology-industry press reported that more than 20,000 Russian teachers had completed the training since its 2025 launch — a reach figure confirmed outside Yandex's own channels, though no independent evaluation of teaching-quality or student-learning outcomes from the training has been published.
Yandex has separately announced plans to extend its AI tools directly to students: an AI Math Assistant built into the Yandex Math Textbook for grades 5–8, which asks guiding rather than direct-answer questions, opened for demo sign-ups on 13 November 2026 ahead of a stated full rollout to more than 6 million schoolchildren from 1 December 2026. As of this record, that rollout is an announced company plan rather than a completed, evaluated deployment, and is reported here for context only — it is not counted as delivered evidence.
