What works in Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda has undertaken three major initiatives captured in the evidence: UNESCO Youth Media & Information Literacy Engagements reached 338 stakeholders across 46 youth organisations and 3 disability organisations in 2024, training educators to improve digital literacy and accessibility for students with disabilities. Redonda Ecosystem Reserve rat and goat eradication (2016–2018) triggered dramatic ecological recovery, with Redonda ground lizard density rising to 935.3 per hectare by 2019 and vegetation biomass increasing over 2,000%, leading to designation of a 30,000-hectare marine and terrestrial reserve in 2023. The Sexual Offences Model Court, established in January 2019 and the first in the Eastern Caribbean, introduced specialised judges, fast-tracked scheduling, remote video testimony, and integrated survivor support; however, no public conviction-rate or case-timeline data have been published to quantify its justice outcomes.
