What works in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago has made significant institutional and programmatic investments in digital inclusion, artificial intelligence, and gender-based violence prevention. On digital inclusion, WeLearnTT and the National ICT Access Centre Network operates 14 free ICT Access Centres and an e-learning platform that enrolled over 4,150 learners since late 2023, targeting elderly, rural, and lower-income populations through a USD 8.2 million three-year Digital Transformation Project. On AI and government services, Anansi — launched August 2025 — connects 32 ministries through a national AI assistant that achieved 88% positive user feedback and 93% satisfaction in early surveys, addressing pre-launch findings that 45% of citizens found government websites confusing. On gender-based violence, the Spotlight Initiative and National Strategic Action Plan trained health staff (with projected cascade reach to 250+) and fed into a 2023–2027 national action plan, in response to a 140% year-on-year increase in reported abuse cases in 2020.
