What works in Uganda

Uganda has demonstrated impact across community health, digital inclusion, refugee empowerment, and environmental sustainability. SASA! Community Mobilisation Programme achieved a 52% reduction in past-year physical intimate partner violence in intervention communities through a cluster RCT. Uganda Rural Household Devices Project reached 10,706 households across 54 districts with solar tablets and data, with 33% using the internet daily and two-thirds reporting income gains. LEAP Programme increased women's representation on Refugee Welfare Committees from 10% to 48–54% in Yumbe and Adjumani districts, though independent reporting notes ongoing barriers to senior leadership roles. Trees for Global Benefits and Solar Sister have trained women entrepreneurs in clean energy and agroforestry across rural areas, with Solar Sister reaching approximately 370,000 people through ~2,000 women-run businesses.
