CitizenAct goal was to empower senior citizens with new knowledge and necessary skills about digital tools, such as wearable sensors measuring health data and solutions as mobile apps supporting healthy habits like nutrition, physical activities and sleep management that are used for healthy living in home environment. This empowerment was done in a set of local digital workshops providing ICT-training and hackathon-spirit events that were platforms for co-creation. In the project, instead of just receiving care, the primary target group, seniors, became an active stakeholder in the care process with two different roles: a) as a user of the digital tools supporting care; b) as a co-creator providing input for creating innovative virtual tools for senior home care.
Context: eHealth systems, connected solutions or mobile devices play an increasing role in the self-care management. These tools are becoming an essential part of innovative care systems.
CitizenAct focuses in empowering senior citizens with the necessary knowledge and competences to benet actively from those tools. This empowerment is done in a training programme and a set of public events: Hackathons.
