Accenture Romania's Digital Skills Academy, running since 2020, partnered with the Roma Education Fund from March 2024 to bring PC skills, Scratch coding, internet safety and AI-ethics training to 250+ Roma and refugee children across 8 schools, backed by company volunteers.
Digital Skills Academy is a corporate-volunteering digital-literacy programme run by Accenture Romania since 2020 for children aged roughly 9-14; from March 2024 it partnered with the Roma Education Fund (REF) Romania to extend the programme to Roma and Ukrainian refugee children via REF's One Stop Shop Centre.
By its fifth edition (March-June 2024) the programme had reached over 1,110 children across 47 schools with 109 Accenture volunteers. The REF-affiliated strand ran in 8 schools across seven counties, reaching over 250 students in 13 classes by the edition concluding in June 2025.
REF researchers reported teachers found the modules relevant and students gained confidence and digital fluency regardless of prior academic performance; these are qualitative programme-partner observations rather than an independent outcomes evaluation.
