Description

The Guyana Digital School is a government-run online learning platform combining live, teacher-led interactive classes with a digital library and AI-powered support tools. A pilot phase from mid-2025 registered around 2,400 students, teachers and parents at schools including St Rose's High School and North Ruimveldt Multilateral School in Georgetown, before the platform's official national launch on 5 December 2025.

At launch, 20,368 students in Grades 10 and 11 from Guyana and other CARICOM countries were enrolled, and government officials reported that more than 30,000 students across the Caribbean had registered for access. The Ministry of Education describes the AI component as being used to identify individual learning gaps so that instruction and digital-library recommendations can be tailored to each student; an expansion to Grades 7–9 was planned for early 2026.

Public reporting so far documents enrolment and registration figures and the platform's stated features, but no independent evaluation of learning outcomes, engagement retention or the accuracy of its AI gap-identification tool has been published. As a newly launched, centrally run national platform, its longer-term sustainability and effectiveness are not yet demonstrated beyond the initial rollout numbers.
