Context

Young job seekers in Brussels come to Kurasaw for help writing CVs and cover letters, often unsure how to express their competences and qualities. They frequently apply for jobs that do not match their skills, are unsure what type of job they want, and — while confident using computers for social media — do not know how to produce a meaningful multimedia project.

Activities

Over five days, 18-25 year-old job seekers work on self-image and self-confidence, explore their preferred activities and target jobs, and build a presentation of their professional career (as a short film or Prezi) covering their education and professional objective, using image and video.

Results

Beneficiaries all improved their digital competences, and almost half secured employment. The project was funded by Actiris, the Brussels regional job centre.

Conclusions

The project shows the importance of digital tools in securing employment, and used an innovative process to combine digital-skills development with job placement support.
