Context

Developed in Spain by Extended Reality Studio Iberia of Accenture (XRS) together with social organisations, this practice targets unemployed people and others facing social barriers to employment, in particular young people with little prior work experience and limited familiarity with digital tools used in modern workplaces.

Objectives

To reduce a documented employment barrier - lack of workplace digital-tool experience - by building familiarity with common workplace technologies through realistic virtual-reality simulation before entering employment.

Activities

The programme has produced VR training modules simulating Cleaning Agent and Waiter roles, in which trainees practise using smartwatches and digital payment tools, consulting work schedules, updating task status, filing incident reports, communicating across departments, prioritising urgent requests and accessing real-time information. The initiative began in Madrid and is being expanded nationally, with multilingual adaptation under consideration.
