Context

"Women are TOP! To the top by innovative corporate cultures" ran from September 2013 to April 2015, coordinated by the Section for Women's Affairs and Gender Equality of the Austrian Federal Chancellery (BKA), with FORBA and WU Vienna running independent sub-projects on business leadership and supervisory boards respectively.

Objectives

The project aimed to increase the proportion of women in managerial, decision-making and supervisory-board positions by fostering more gender-equitable organisational cultures.

Activities

FORBA collected more than 50 good-practice measures from Austrian companies of varying size, sector and location, engaging companies closely to build adequate gender-equal corporate cultures; in 2023 the examples were revised and updated, with input from Deloitte diversity experts, into a toolbox for companies, HR and diversity managers and works councils.

Results

The project produced a collection of more than 50 documented good-practice measures already being implemented in Austrian companies to increase women's representation in management and leadership.

Conclusions

Although the formal project ended in 2015, its practices reportedly remain in place in Austrian businesses, and the toolbox was refreshed in 2023, pointing to continued use of its recommendations.
